Beloit, once known as Willow Springs, is located in north central
Kansas. The city is near Waconda Lake, better known as the Glen
Elder Reservoir, and the Solomon River. Fishing, hiking, and
camping are among the common activities in Beloit.
Celebrations in Beloit
include Homecoming, which is celebrated over Memorial Day weekend, the
Mitchell County Fair, which celebrated its 100th year in
2009, and the Isle of Light that runs from the day after Thanksgiving
until New Years Day. Other
attractions in Beloit include the Little Red School House, St. Johns Catholic Church, and
the Mitchell County Courthouse.
The
North Central Kansas
Technical
College
is also located in Beloit. NCKTC
attracts hundreds
of students each year to study a wide variety of trades.
