Wichita is the largest city in Kansas and is located in the south central part of the state.  Known as the Air Capital of the World, Wichita has been the three time recipient of the All American City award.  With a strong manufacturing and aviation industry and multiple universities and colleges, Wichita continues to grow.

Citizens enjoy over 250 days of sunshine per year giving them ample opportunity to enjoy the Sedgwick County Zoo, Botanica – The Wichita Gardens, Century II Convention Center, Cowtown Historic District, Wichita Skatepark, the Great Plains Nature Center, and Old Town, Wichita’s premiere entertainment district.  Wichita’s River Festival, Flight Festival, Garden Show, and Wakefest are also popular events for community members.

Famous individuals from Wichita include Kirstie Alley – actress, Robert Gates – U.S. Secretary of Defense, Don Johnson – actor, Jim Lehrer – Lehrer News Hour on PBS, Hattie McDaniel – first African-American woman to win an Academy Award (Gone with the Wind), and Barry Sanders – Detroit Lions Running Back.
