Our roots go back to October 1, 1884 when Sumner Pierce filed a charter to begin the Central Kansas Bank in Junction City, Kansas.  In 1890, Central Kansas Bank became Central National Bank as it is today.  The original building, located on the corner of Eighth & Washington St., was built in 1910 and still serves as the main bank location today.

A Bank for the Military

Fort Riley became cavalry headquarters the same year the bank opened.  The two have grown together through out the years and Central National Bank remains a top choice in banking among military families.

Agricultural Expertise

Agriculture has long been a cornerstone of Kansas and Nebraska economy.  Central National Bank is proud to have served local farmers for over a century, and to be listed a Top 100 Ag Lending Bank in the United States.

Technological Change

When the bank first opened, records were kept by hand.  Every page had to be perfect, or rewritten.  Today, things are a bit more convenient.  The development of ATMs, Mobile Banking and Internet Banking have helped Central National Bank customers grow with the times and keep close tabs on their accounts.

We're Branching Out

Central National Bank opened its first drive-through banking facility in Junction City in the 1970s.  Today the bank has 38 branch locations in 23 communities across Kansas and Nebraska, offering customers the best of both worlds: friendly service from local folks who know the community, as well as a broad network of branches, ATMs, and services that only large banks can provide.

A Legacy of Strength

Central National Bank is 125 years old and has survived all of the economic challenges in that time – including the Great Depression.  We are proud of our history and our record of service, and look forward to continuing our legacy of strength for many years to come.
