Beloit CourthouseCentered between Glen Elder State Park and Waconda Lake, Glen Elder is located in north central Kansas. This small, rural community (originally known as West Hampton) has a strong agricultural presence. Outdoor activities like camping, fishing (known for walleye), and boating are popular hobbies in this area. The town has rental units available for lake visitors.

Glen Elder's Community Club puts on a Halloween parade and party each October, as well a Chili Cook-Off which includes a Color Run, Poker Run and Street Dance. Other annual celebrations include a Christmas lighting ceremony, and an Easter egg hunt. Glen Elder also hosts the Glen Elder Fun Days in July and a city-wide garage sale in the spring. Other attractions include a swimming pool and a senior center.
